Some of the many thank-you notes the Cape Community Orchestra received in Feb. 2017, when it performed at the Station Avenue Elementary School in South Yarmouth.
The Cape Community Orchestra, under the direction of John P. Hagon, will present concerts for school children at Harwich Elementary School and Stony Brook Elementary School in Brewster on Wednesday, February 14.
The orchestra will play themes from classic and newer movies, while Maestro Hagon, who is celebrating his 60th year as a conductor this year, leads a lively discussion with the children about the music and the instruments of the orchestra. Orchestra members will demonstrate the unique features of their instruments.
The program includes music from all eight “Harry Potter” movies, “Baby Elephant Walk” from “Hatari,” selections from “The Wizard of Oz,” a medley from “Star Wars,” and more.
Cape Community Orchestra also presents concerts for the general public in May and November. A non-profit organization, Cape Community Orchestra Inc. is supported by private contributions and grants from local and regional institutions including the Cape Cod Melody Tent.
