Liz Saunders brings her hit cabaret show, “Liz Live! A Cabaret of Music and Humor” to Cotuit Center for the Arts on Tuesday, July 14. Joining her for an evening of music and humor are pianist and vocalist Mark Bornfield, bassist Peter Hallenmeier, and percussionist Michael Gross. There will be a special appearance by the award-winning Nauset Regional High School Jazz Band.

Saunders is known for her infectious energy, powerful and versatile voice, and her ability to capture the essence of a variety of singing styles.

“I love the songs of the 1930s and ‘40s—my mom’s music,” she said, “and to mix up the genres, singing comedic songs, cabaret standards, and fun songs that involve audience interaction. This is a mature show and Cotuit Center for the Arts’ chic and intimate atmosphere gives it a true cabaret feel.”

Saunders spent many years managing the corporate side of entertainment nationally with Spirit Cruises and performed with the Hot Spot Cabaret for 25 years. She sang wartime songs with the Capital Jazz Orchestra in New Hampshire, and the Cape Symphony Orchestra, with whom she performed a Patti Page Tribute in 2012. She presented her show, “Liz Live,” at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in 2013 and 2014, to rave reviews.

“I tweak the show every time it is booked,” said Saunders, “to keep it fresh for the audience and us too. This time around I am happy to include such a talent as Mark Bornfield, who will sing some vocals, as well as accompanying on the piano. ”

Bornfield is an Emmy Award-winning composer, pianist, studio recording vocalist, and trumpet player. He has accompanied such vocalists at Vikki Carr, Robert Morse, Whitney Houston, and Jamie Foxx. He was a featured cabaret artist and solo pianist at Boston’s Copley Plaza Oak Room and aboard the Seabourn Pride.

The Nauset Regional High School Jazz Band will make a special appearance. “The ensemble sounds great, and the students are eager and passionate about their music studies and deserve to be more widely heard,” said Saunders. A percentage of the evening’s proceeds will go to support the Music Department at Nauset Regional High School.

“I’m really looking forward to the show,” said Saunders. “It’s upbeat with something for everyone to enjoy. We’ve got some great classic songs, like ‘Hard-Hearted Hannah,’ giving it our own take, as well as some swing, jazz, and comedic songs. A real mix.”

Tickets to the Cotuit concert are $25, $22 for seniors, and $20 for members. Cotuit Center for the Arts is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit. For more information, visit http://www.artsonthecape.org or call 508-428-0669.
