Mastersingers by the Sea Pre-Concert Talk

Mastersingers by the Sea presents its fall concert, “Festivo! Music of Celebration” on Saturday, November 3, at 7:30 PM and Sunday, November 4, at 3 PM, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 91 Main Street, in Falmouth.

Directed by Dr. David MacKenzie, Mastersingers is a chamber chorus accompanied by instrumentalists from the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, which Dr. MacKenzie also directs.

The program will feature both choral and instrumental works:

“Overture and Dances from the opera ‘Alcina,’” by George Frideric Handel

“Nisi Dominus” (Psalm 127) by Francesco Cavalli

“Musica Para la Navidad,” by Juan Gutierrez de Padilla

“Lux Aurumque,” by Eric Whitacre

Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G, by J. S. Bach, featuring soloists Jesse Holstein, violin and Jan Elliott and Jeff Kaufmann, recorders

“Offertory for the Feast of St. John the Baptist,” by W. A. Mozart

Audience members are invited to a reception immediately following the performance.

Advance tickets are $20.  Tickets at the door are $25 or $10 for students under 18.  Online tickets for this concert only may be purchased at; a $1 processing fee is added.
