Sara Daneshpour, Stephen Simon, and Bonnie Ward Simon
Pianist Sara Daneshpour will perform with the Simon Sinfonietta tomorrow night (Saturday, June 2, 7:30 PM) at Falmouth Academy. She will play Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in d minor, K466.
Sara, 24, won first prize in the American Beethoven Society Pianists Competition when she was 13. She went on to win several international competitions and perform in major venues around the world, including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
She spoke with conductor Stephen Simon and his wife Bonnie Simon yesterday at the Simon’s home, and I was happy to be there to videotape the discussion for Falmouth Community Television. Sara plays excerpts from the first movement of the concerto, and the three discuss the works to be performed and Sara’s musical training.
Also on the program are Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony in C and Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 in B-flat major, The Spring.
