John Murelle, accompanied by pianist Chris Morris, sang songs by Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart, Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin, and Irving Berlin last Friday at the Cape Cod Conservatory in Falmouth. They were joined by two of Mr. Murelle’s students (from the conservatory and his private studio in Sandwich), Audrey Medeiros, a junior at Plymouth High School, and Mattie White of Centerville. My review will appear in tomorrow’s Falmouth Enterprise (April 2, 2010).
John provided commentary on the songwriters and the times in which they lived. Here he introduces the title song, Cole Porter’s “Please Don’t Monkey with Broadway.”
