Arts Alive 2025 Performances

Arts Alive, ArtsFalmouth’s annual celebration of the arts, will be held Friday, June 13, from 5 to 9 PM, Saturday, June 14, from 10 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday, June 15, from 11 AM to 5 PM, with 40 performances under two tents on the Falmouth Library Lawn and at the Peg Noonan Park bandshell, and 75 artisans and craftspeople offering a colorful array of handcrafted items along Shore Street Ext. and in Peg Noonan Park.  

In addition, there will be Artists on the Lawn on Saturday morning (bring your own art materials and join in), community organization information tents on the Library Lawn, an Art Tent with activities for all ages, and a Story Walk.

Arts Alive is free, open to all, and takes place rain or shine.

The festival begins tonight, with performances by Wayside Sound, a Falmouth-based Americana-blues band at 5 PM; a Soul & Blues performance by Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor at 6 PM, and the Town Dance with The Paradise Rock Band from 7 to 9 PM. ArtsFalmouth is grateful to Ellen Brodsky for facilitating the donation of a dance floor for the weekend.

The Artisans Market takes place Saturday, June 14, from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday, June 15, from 11 AM to 5 PM. There will be a fine array of painters, photographers, woodworkers, fiber artists, jewelry artists, home décor crafters, potters, personal care item artists, and much more.

The Familiars of Cape Cod play Saturday at 10 AM in the Performance Tent (the larger of the two tents on the Library Lawn) with their blend of folk, fiddle, country, and Americana music. Dancers from Turning Pointe Dance Studio perform from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM, and Troupe Mirage will entertain with authentic Egyptian belly dance from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.

Joe Mongelli and his Jelly Jazz Quintet perform classic jazz hits from the ‘50s and ’60s from 1:45 to 2:45 PM, and the Andrew Sue Wing Duo takes the stage from 3 to 4 PM with blues, rock, funk, and soul covers and originals.

The Cape Cod Moonlighters Big Band performs danceable music from the big band era from 4:15 to 6 PM. From 6:15 to 7:15, Cognitive Dissonance plays Afro-Cuban and mainstream jazz. Puffy Elvis plays classic rock for dancing from 7:30 to 9 PM.

Meanwhile, on Saturday in the Music Tent, Morgaihne Huntress starts things off at 10 AM with “Love, Peace, and Gratitude,” her collection of original music and poetry. Back in Time plays classic rock music from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM, and Dawna Hammers sings Joni Mitchell songs from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, joined by Turning Point dancers in a special collaboration.

The Low Pressure Band plays rock, blues, and country music from 1:45 to 2:45 PM, and vocalist/guitarist Maureen Burke performs her original music from 3 to 4 PM. From 4:15 to 5:15, Audio Fossil performs classic rock covers, and Saltclouds, an indie rock band, plays originals and covers from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.

New this year is the Songbird Collective, a group of singer/songwriters performing in Peg Noonan Park under the direction of Lily Rapoza. The Saturday schedule includes Levi Cooper from 12 to 12:30 PM, Lily Rapoza from 12:30 to 1 PM, J Alexis Bautista from 1:15 to 1:45 PM, Michael Shea from 1:45 to 2:15 PM, Renee Levesque from 2:30 to 3:30 PM, and TBD from 3:30 to 4:30 PM.

Sunday in the Performance Tent begins with the North River Brass Quintet from 11 AM to Noon, followed by the Shining Sea Strummers, a 35-member ukulele group, from 12:15 to 1:15 PM. The Falmouth Fiddlers play from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, and College Light Opera follows from 2:45 to 3:45 PM, with highlights from its upcoming season. The Dan Lawson Band rounds out the day with its jazz and funk-influenced blues-rock sound from 4 to 5 PM.

The first performance in the Music Tent on Sunday is Bird at Sea, a soulful alt/indie duo, from 11 AM to Noon, followed by Blue Jasime, featuring Neil and Bela Ganju singing American classics and originals. Richard Keith sings original songs influenced by the Beatles, the Rolling Stone, and Bob Dylan from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.

Vocalist and harpist Brynne Santos performs folk, Celtic, medieval/Renaissance, and rock music from 2:45 to 3:45 PM. Northern Lights follows from 4 to 5 PM, playing soft rock, Americana, folk, blues, and classic rock.

Over in Peg Noonan Park, the Songbird Collective continues its singer/songwriter performances with Isabella Power from 11 to 11:30 PM, Sophia DePuy from 11:30 AM to 12 Noon, Boda Corona from 12:15 to 12:45 PM, Andrew Sexton from 12:45 to 1:15 PM, Scout Rockwell from 1:30 to 2:30, and James “Troubadour” Davis from 2:30 to 3:30.

The Art Tent offers activities for all ages from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 5 PM on Sunday. Check the ArtsFalmouth.org website for specific times.

Highlights include Falmouth Public Library’s Children’s Librarian, Amanda Bock, who will read aloud from some of the library’s newest books and share suggestions for summer reading. Kirsten Karplus will teach how to make origami (folded paper) shapes. Artist Chloe Rapoza will show how to make paper and fabric collage pictures.

Marie Younger Blackburn will read her own poetry and teach people how to write their own poetry. Her son Chase will accompany her on the drums. Susan Bauer, author of three Turtle Sisters books, will read from her books, which tell of the daily dramas of pond life.

Morgaihne Huntress will present Mindful Poetry Play and encourage creative audience participation. Victoria Santosof the Falmouth Theatre Guild and Martha Ross will read a variety of fun stories to children. Francie Desmone will talk about intentional creativity, a way to draw from the unconscious mind.

There will be art supplies on hand for independent exploration.
