The Falmouth Art Market is at Falmouth Marine Park, 180 Scranton Avenue, on Tuesday, July 16, 11 AM until 5 PM. There will be 30 creative artists, live music, a Meet the Author booth, lunch from the Filling Station Food Truck, and ice cream from Sea Scoops. The event continues every Tuesday throughout the summer.

Award winning singer/songwriter Kim Moberg and violinist Heather Swanson will perform from 2 to 4 PM at the ArtMarket. Moberg’s rich vocals have been described as “a blend of honey and whiskey.” Her lyrics elicit feelings of heartbreak, healing, and social consciousness. Her latest project, “The Seven Fires Prophecy Suite for Humanity,” features songs that tie ancient Native American Anishinaabe prophecies to the current social environment.
Heather Swanson is a classical violinist who crossed over to folk and traditional Celtic music. She frequently performs with Moberg and with other musicians.
Among the vendors who will be at the Art Market this summer is Desiree Azarian, who makes sea glass jewelry and beach-inspired ornaments. Years ago she and a friend sold their creations at the Inkwell Bookshop on Main Street. Azarian made resin frames with beach glass, shells, and sand, while her partner made sea glass jewelry. When the store went out of business and her friend moved out of town, Azarian started making sea glass jewelry herself.

“I love making jewelry,” Azarian said. “And I like the look. I like the beachy colors, and the tourists like it too. They can have a souvenir and a piece of jewelry at the same time.”
Azarian works with beach glass in shades of blue and green and uses sterling silver chains for most of her necklaces. She does have some hypoallergenic chains for those with allergies. She also uses semi-precious stones, such as amethyst, crystal, rose quartz, rainbow tourmaline, and other stones.
Azarian also writes poetry and used to rap. “Poetry has always been my great escape. It got me through some of the worst times in my life,” she said.
Tamsen George will be at the Meet the Author booth with her latest book, Revolutionary Murder: A Dr. Eustis Mystery. What happens when a corpse appears on the side of the road to West Point and just outside the path to an all-female community? It is 1780 and the Continental Army led by General George Washington is focused on holding back the British advance. Complications arrive with spies, counterfeiters, and smugglers.
The Art Market takes place in Falmouth Marine Park, under the trees near the Flying Bridge restaurant. Proceeds from the Art Market help support the Falmouth Cultural Council, which offers small grants to individuals and organizations.
