Falmouth Art Market Returns for the Summer

The Falmouth Art Market returns Tuesday, June 25, with over 30 artisans, live music, and opportunities to meet local authors. The event takes place every Tuesday through August 27 from 11 AM to 6 PM at Falmouth Marine Park, 180 Scranton Avenue.

The Art Market welcomes returning and new vendors this year, each offering their own handcrafted art.

Among the new artisans is Amitola Tie Dyes, offering ice-dyed clothing in all sizes. Susan Belmonte specializes in glass painting on old windows. Tom Soutier of Cape Wave Studio makes wave art with acrylic paint and resin on wood. Rachel DeNardo creates stone and crystal jewelry. And Meghan Deneen hand paints shells.

Other new vendors are Sarah Glover, who offers jewelry and handmade cards; Susan Goding, who makes beaded jewelry; and Andrea Shamgochin of Happy Knits, who creates knitted hats and beaded jewelry. Olivia Hobaica paints in oils and acrylics, and David Horne makes garden art items.

Abigail Kempton makes apothecary items, and Jean Kirby and Gina Miller-McCue offer jewelry, wristlets, and keyrings. Chris Renouf has lino cut prints, sculpture, and painted clothing. Gabriel Ribeiro creates imaginative works in watercolor and ink.

Kathryn Teske sews tote bags, while Melanie Walker paints in oils and makes crystal mobiles. Maxine Miles of Willow & Nurture makes self-care and fashion items, and Irene Young creates fiber art and gnome houses.

Several returning artists also work in fiber. Diane Precourt of Buddha Buns handcrafts meditation cushions, Japanese sleeping pillows, yoga mat bags, and yoga eye cushions. Jane Parhiala weaves scarves, washcloths, and bags.

Nancy Sawyer of Goin’ Fishin’ creates original fish-themed artwork. Martine Binder-Desbiens makes boxes and more out of paper.

Jewelry makers are well represented by Desiree Azarian, Abby Volkman of Beads and Bits, Shavonna Bent, Betsy Goren of Betsy’s Heart, Judy La Cava of Cape Cod Octopus’s Garden, Lily Matthews of Creativity by Lily, and Marilyn Rowland, who make jewelry from sea glass, seed beads, beach pebbles, semi-precious stones, polymer clay, metal, and more.

There are several painters and photographers at the market. Joseph Freedman of Falmouth on Canvas prints his photos of Falmouth on canvas. Patrick Laughead of Patrick’s Acrylics of Cape Cod offers acrylic paintings of Cape Cod. Carl Sheffer offers photos of colorful, exotic, and unusual subjects worldwide.

Items for the home are also popular. Carlah Kramer of Cape Cod Artworks creates mixed media art using glass and wood. Annie Oberteuffer of mugs and more by annieo makes functional, decorative, and whimsical pottery. William Brown of Pine Island Studio makes concrete planters and macrame planter hangers.

Musicians will perform from 2 to 4 PM every week, beginning with the Familiars of Cape Cod on June 25. Manny and Linda Dias and Frank Carotenuto sing and play folk, fiddle, country, Irish, and popular music. On July 2, the Olivia Yingling Trio performs. Olivia is a jazz vocalist. The Falmouth Fiddlers perform on July 9, playing old-time, Celtic, bluegrass, folk, and country music.

Singer/songwriter Kim Moberg and violinist Heather Swanson team up on July 16 to perform folk, traditional, and original music. Vibraphone player Julian Loida will play on July 23. On July 30, singer/songwriter Gabrielle Simpkins sings her own mix of folk, classical, jazz, and indie rock music.

Black Whydah performs on August 6. The trio plays Irish, old-time, bluegrass, folk, and country music. Singer/songwriter Dawna Hammers sings folk, pop, soft rock, and bluesy originals and covers on August 13, and the Country Flavored Band performs classic country songs on August 20. Rounding out the summer are Rose Martin and Jerry Doherty, who sing and play guitar.

Authors are featured every week, including Don Wilding on June 25, Joseph C. Salvo on July 2, Linda Williams on July 9, Tamsen Evans George on July 16, Bethany Eisenberg on July 23, Joanne Carota on July 30, Wendy Borstein on August 6, Mark Epstein on August 13, and Mark Chester on August 20.
